Neurological Rehabilitation and Robotics

Neurological Rehabilitation and Robotics

Sep 10, 2020/in Interests/by Tania Mayne

This field is most certainly my first love and drives my practice. I work with a multitude of diagnoses and always within a team environment – Spinal cord injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, Polyneuropathies, Stroke to name a few…..I strive to assimilate the traditional Bobath theories of neuro-rehabilitation, the various motor control theories and the functional rehabilitation theories into practice. Crossing between neurological rehabilitation and sports rehabilitation has given me great insight into the similarities in the rehabilitation – understanding the brain-body connection is paramount in how I deliver rehabilitation, what I say, how the movement is practiced or felt, the amount of repetition and functional load, the education and the role of robotics to aid this is truly fascinating.
